Random food musings...

Mommy's Party Eggs
I remember watching my mom make meals when I was little. The amazing smells making me more hungry by the minute. Waiting to eat whatever wonderful food she was cooking, I was never disappointed with flavor or creativity. 3 times a day, every day, she would prepare our food. I had no idea what it meant to make food healthier by making it from scratch. But that's what she did. Ketchup, mayonnaise, cakes, bread...you name it, she made it all from scratch. With whole grains & without sugar.

Today I am finding out more and more what a difference she made when it came to my health. And the desire to be as an amazing cook as she is :)

Naturally sweetened Lemon Bars

So recently I've been experimenting with making things normally loaded with white flours and processed sugars healthy. Friday and againg yesterday I made Golden Pavlova with a nice strawberry...sauce for lack of a better word. It was closer to a custard in its origins. Either way it was sugar free, gluten free and almost completely fat free. A mix between Angelfood cake and a marshmallow. And it tasted amazing. Yes. Several of my friends who normally would refuse to eat something with those labels attached, ate it...several pieces. I believe I shall be adding that recipe to my notebook. I will post a blog with my variation of it but for the most part this recipe will give you something very similar. Golden Cranberry Pavlova (Marshmallow cake)

So here are a few books that I plan on purchasing in the near future. I've been wanting these forever!
